Fees
What you pay on a live trade, Hyperliquid's trading fees plus tandem's 0.01% fee, and where you can see each one.
When you trade live, you pay two kinds of fee on each order that fills:
Hyperliquid's trading fee
Goes to Hyperliquid. 0.045% taker and 0.015% maker on the base tier; HIP-3 markets have their own rates.
tandem's fee
0.01% of the order's value on every live order; 0.005% for friends who joined with an invite link.
Funding is a separate cost (or income) on open positions. It is not a fee charged by tandem. Practice trades and practice copies cost nothing real.
Hyperliquid's trading fees
Hyperliquid charges its own fee on every fill. How much depends on how the order fills:
| How it fills | Base tier fee | |
|---|---|---|
| Taker | At once: a market order, a trigger, or a limit order through the price. | 0.045% of the order's value |
| Maker | It rests on the book and is filled later. | 0.015% of the order's value |
Hyperliquid lowers these rates for accounts with more trading volume. The stock and commodity markets that third parties run on Hyperliquid (HIP-3 markets) have their own rates: see HIP-3 markets below.
Tandem does not set or receive Hyperliquid's fees.
tandem's fee: 0.01%
Tandem charges 0.01% of the value of each live order. It is the same for every order type, and the same for your own orders and your live copies. A friend who joined with an invite link pays half, 0.005%, for as long as they trade. Your invite link is on every card you share (see Share cards).
You earn from your friends' trading: 20% of the fee their live orders pay, $0.01 on a $1,000 order, shown in Invite friends. Payouts haven't opened yet: your earnings build up and are paid to your connected wallet once they do.
| Order value | tandem's fee |
|---|---|
| $100 | $0.01 |
| $1,000 | $0.10 |
| $10,000 | $1.00 |
How it is charged
The fee is a Hyperliquid "builder fee". You approve it once, with the second signature when you turn on live trading. After that:
- live orders that open or add to a position carry tandem's fee;
- Hyperliquid takes the fee from your account when the order fills, together with its own fee;
- you pay on what actually fills: an order that never fills costs nothing.
Tandem can't take money from your account any other way: its trading key can't withdraw or move funds.
The rate never changes silently
If your wallet's fee approval is missing, new exposure waits for approval. Orders that only close or reduce a position can go without tandem's fee when it cannot be charged, so a missing fee approval does not block a way out. Tandem never raises the rate silently or above the rate your wallet approved.
HIP-3 markets
HIP-3 markets are Hyperliquid's markets for stocks, indices, commodities and currencies, each run by its own deployer (see Stock and commodity markets). On them:
- Hyperliquid's fee is the market's own rate. The deployer sets it as a scale of Hyperliquid's base rates, and the deployer's share is part of that fee, not added on top. For example, on 30 October 2026 the xyz markets in Hyperliquid's growth mode charged 0.009% taker and 0.003% maker at the base tier, and xyz markets without it 0.09% and 0.03%. The order form, the confirmation, a copy's fee estimate and a For You trade's stop use the market's own rate.
- tandem's fee is the same as everywhere: 0.01% (0.005% for invited friends). Hyperliquid charges it on HIP-3 orders too, as a test order showed. That holds for For You's copies on these markets as well.
On some HIP-3 markets, tandem's fee is the larger one
On an xyz market in growth mode, tandem's 0.01% is more than Hyperliquid's own 0.009% taker fee. On a $1,000 order that fills at once there, you pay $0.09 to Hyperliquid and $0.10 to tandem.
Where you see the fees
Where you see the fees:
| Where | What you see |
|---|---|
| Before you place an order | The Fees row of the order summary shows the rates, for example "0.045% / 0.015% + 0.01% tandem" (taker / maker); hover it for this order's dollars. Paper orders show dollars. |
| In your trade history | Each fill shows Hyperliquid's fee and tandem's fee. |
| In your Portfolio | The costs line by line: Hyperliquid's fees, tandem's fee (0.01%), funding, and what is left After costs. |
Funding is not a fee
Perpetual positions pay or receive funding while they are open. It flows between traders who are long and traders who are short, not to tandem. Your Portfolio shows it as Funding paid or Funding received. See the Glossary.
Depositing and withdrawing
Deposits and withdrawals happen on Hyperliquid, not in tandem. Tandem charges nothing for them. Moving USDC to Hyperliquid costs a little ETH on Arbitrum for gas. See Funding your account.
Small orders add up
On a small account, fees and funding can be a large share of your results. Your Portfolio's After costs line shows what you kept.
